Trains from Amsterdam to the Hague
How to get from Amsterdam to the Hague by train
Traveling from Amsterdam to The Hague (Den Haag in Dutch) is straightforward and convenient as the two cities are well-connected by regular and frequent train services.
Intercity (IC) Trains
The Dutch national railway company, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), operates regular Intercity services between Amsterdam Centraal and Den Haag Centraal. The journey typically takes around 50 minutes to an hour, depending on the specific service. Trains generally run every 15 minutes or so during the day.
Sprinter Trains
NS also operates slower Sprinter services between the two cities, which stop at more stations along the route. This can be a good option if you’re traveling to or from a station that’s not served by the Intercity trains, but it will take longer.
Tickets can be purchased at the station from the ticket machines, at the NS service desk, or online from the NS website. You can also use an OV-chipkaart, which is a reusable travel card used for all public transport in the Netherlands.
